Types of Two-Factor Authentication
Facebook has different ways to add extra security with 2FA:
- SMS-based 2FA: You get a code in a text message that you must enter with your password to log in.
- Authenticator app: Use a third-party app like Google Authenticator or Microsoft Authenticator for a time-based code.
- Security key: A physical security key, like a USB or Bluetooth device, verifies your identity during login.
- Face or fingerprint recognition: You can use your face or fingerprints to add an extra layer of security.
Turning on two-factor authentication makes your Facebook account much safer. It makes it hard for hackers to get in, even if they know your password.
Setting up two-factor authentication for your Facebook account means your info and online presence are safer. You’ll be protected from unauthorized access and damage from hacked accounts.
